ACTION 1: Find your inner chef

Cook up a big meal and invite lots of people to share it with you.

Everyone can cook something, even if it’s just beans on toast or a basic recipe. The simple act of serving friends with food will make them feel special and valued. Furthermore, it is often over a meal that great conversations happen and you get to know friends better or find out how you can be even more generous to them. Search ‘recipes’ on the Rhythms website for some great ideas.

ACTION 2: Find five

Write a list of five people and pray for them every day for a week.

Stop. Sometimes, we’re so busy talking with people, listening to people and trying to help them that we don’t stop to pray for them. Stop. The simple, selfless task of privately pursuing God for that person shifts our perspective on our role in their lives. Do this every day for a week or a month and you may find this habit sticks around for a little while longer!

ACTION 3: Tithe your spending

Each time you buy something, give 10% of that value to a charity.

Tithing is an ancient practice that for centuries has seen people faithfully lay aside a small portion of their spending, no questions asked. It doesn’t really matter which charity you give to (many shops or coffee shops have a collection tin at the till) but following this ancient tradition broadens your perspective, changes the way you spend and helps you to be more generous with that which you are a stewarding.
