C.S. Lewis, The Magician’s Nephew extract:
‘But please, please - won’t you - can’t you give me something that will cure Mother?”
Up till then he had been looking at the Lion’s great feet and the huge claws on them; now, in his despair, he looked up at its face. What he saw surprised him as much as anything in his whole life. For the tawny face was bent down near his own and great shining tears stood in the Lion’s eyes. They were such big, bright tears compared with Digory’s own that for a moment he felt as if the Lion must really be sorrier about his Mother than he was himself.’

Jesus of the Scars extract:
‘The other gods were strong; but Thou wast weak;
They rode, but Thou didst stumble to a throne;
But to our wounds only God’s wounds can speak,
And not a god has wounds, but Thou alone.’

Forgiveness costs:
Try and use an example from your own life where you’ve actually broken something:
My friend (sister / parent etc) loves their car (shoes/ ipad etc) and they kindly leant it to me. Unfortunately, I broke it. My friend (sister / parent etc) was faced with two options 1/ to make me pay for the damage/ buy a new item or 2/ to forgive me. If they choose to forgive, they are left with either a broken item or they have to pay from their own pocket to fix the damages. Either way, that forgiveness costs them something – the fully functioning car (shoes/ ipad etc) or the cost of fixing/ replacing it.
