It’s almost becoming necessary to reach for the Urban Dictionary along with the Bible. Alternately, it can be difficult for young Christians to find like-minded friends and mentors who not only understand but can also relate – friends who know what it’s like to wait until marriage before having sex, or mentors who know what ‘motives’ are (these are parties, for those not in the loop) and how to be both cool and Christian.
Your Shout, a new show on Premier Gospel’s Monday line-up, is working to bridge this gap by offering young people a chance to stand out and be heard. For an hour a week, presenter Theo Maderson (a youth worker and councillor himself) invites young Christians to voice their hopes, fears and perspectives on anything from money and sex, to exams or politics. It’s not a show for venting grievances – it’s bright and positive, with young people discussing the issues that directly impact them and how they stay focused on God amidst the pressures of being young.
Since its inception five years ago, one of Premier Gospel’s goals has always been to engage a younger audience, providing content that’s both interesting and relatable. Your Shout will join a current line-up of shows engaging young people with the Church, like Wayne Marshall’s edgy phone-in show,
Awkward, that tackles the tough questions with honest, God-focused answers. Listen out for Your Shout, Mondays at 9pm on Premier Gospel.
