The HOPE Revolution Big Weekender from 3rd-5th May 2014 will see hundreds of youth groups up and down the country being creative in mission. The aim of the event, and HOPE Revolution as a whole, is to see a generation who put their faith into words and action in every area of life, and who inspire their local churches to make a positive difference in their neighbourhood.

HOPE Revolution is the youth arm of HOPE, whose goal for this year of mission is to see lasting change in communities and a rhythm of mission in the life of the Church. HOPE Revolution’s aim is to see young people take the lead in this, by providing inspiration and resources from their Mission Academies with the emphasis on young people dreaming, planning and delivering creative ideas for word and action mission throughout the weekend. Those taking part will be given free tickets to the Big Church Day Out from 24th – 25th May to bring those reached through the weekend of mission.

Phil Timson, HOPE Revolution’s youth director, said: ‘We’d love to see every youth group in the country doing something creative in word and action as a part of the Big Weekender – and not just joining in, but taking a lead in planning the Big Weekender in their area.’ The Big Weekender is backed by Soul Survivor, Soul Action, YFC, The Message Trust, Scripture Union, Urban Saints, Tearfund and youth ministries from across the denominations. Small group sessions to help in the preparation for the Big Weekender will be available through the HOPE Revolution website and will be published in the April edition of Youthwork. ‘I [always] had religion around me. It provided a real community and that lasted into my adulthood. Part of the reason I love doing films and plays is that I love having a group of people you get to know really well; you’re surrounded by people all the time. And I love that about going to church every week and singing in the choir.’ Carey Mulligan, in The Guardian Weekend
