Not by law and not by force, God’s Spirit works inside,
To help us live like Jesus did, Our helper and our guide.
He grows in us a kind of fruit. For that is what Paul claims. So see if you can guess them all In this Fruit / Spirit game!
The first fruit is a strawberry, A gift from heav’n above.
A heart-shaped share of God’s own heart. And yes, this fruit is… LOVE!
The watermelon is quite huge. A multi-person feast.
Too big to eat all by myself, It must be shared, like… PEACE!
Next we have a passion fruit Of acts that tie and bind us.
Simple needs quite simply met. That’s why this fruit is… KINDNESS!
Bananas are a special fruit, Beloved by all ape nations.
But peeling them can take some time, And that’s why they’re like… PATIENCE!
A blueberry is smooth and sweet. No pips of ‘must’ or ‘should’-ness.
It does what’s right, it’s right, right through. And so it’s much like… GOODNESS
For Lent this year, I gave up meat, Ate fish and grain and lentil.
My guts were given quite a break, The diet was so… GENTLE!
This fruit is like a Christmas orange, Sweet toe to stocking toys.
A juicy fount of bright delights. Of course, this fruit is… JOY!
A date, when dried, will last and last, And keep a Bedouin’s plate full
In desert heat for days and days. It’s much like being… FAITHFUL!
And finally we come to grapes, They don’t stay on the shelf.
I don’t eat one, I eat a bunch, I can’t… CONTROL MYSELF.
Not by law and not by force, God’s Spirit works inside,
To help us live like Jesus did, Our helper and our guide.
He grows in us a kind of fruit, For that is what Paul claims.
(I cheated with the lentil. Sorry.) I hope you liked our game!
