Maybe you’ve been following this blog for years, and are excited to hear that we are re-launching. Maybe you didn’t realise that we had a blog at all. Either way - welcome one, welcome all.
The aim of this re-launched Youthwork blog is to provide a space for conversation around the future of youth ministry between the people who care. It is a chance to share best practice, new ideas, possible strategies, the latest research, and pool resource together. There are many individuals and organisations out there doing incredible thinking around youth work, and many such conversations already being had; we want to bring everyone together into a bloggy-melting pot, and have these important discussions in an arena where others can contribute, and can read about the latest and most innovative youth ministry initiatives.
Why do we feel that such a blog is needed? There is a rumbling feeling among those of us in youth ministry that we are at a crisis point. What we’ve been doing hasn’t been working, and we need a renewed sense of vision and hope for the future of youth work. We want to facilitate important and sometimes brutally honest debate around why we are doing what we’re doing, why it is or isn’t working, and whether or not we should all just pack up and go home.
We will be publishing a blog here every week for the next year, from people you’ve heard about and people you haven’t. We encourage you to read what they say, to agree or disagree, and to get involved with the conversation on the comments section below, or on Twitter (@youthworkmag, #ywconversation / #ywchat) or Facebook (/youthworkmag). If you have something to say, why not write for us? Drop us a line at youthwork@premier.org.uk
Stay tuned!
