Having previously used 12 Big Questions by Big Ministries I was pleased to discover their other group resource in the same great format. God’s love is unstoppable follows the life of Peter, from meeting Jesus on the beach to his escape from prison in Acts 12. There is also an accompanying CD which provides complementing songs for each session. The children will recognise some of the song styles from current pop music trends, and this seems to help them engage with it. The children (and leaders) will soon be singing along.

Each session comes with ideas for games and craft, along with a worksheet which can be photocopied for each child. The storytelling is presented in different ways in order to engage all the different types of children we encounter in our groups. My midweek group seems to favour the interactive ‘trigger word’ style storytelling, where they are encouraged to be part of the story through noise! Session ten goes along a different route and lends itself to a rhythm session using the brilliant ‘Rhythm Inside’ song from the CD.

Each session is designed to fill an hour, but I found I didn’t have enough time to use all the elements each week. I found the worksheet useful as a hand-out at the end of the night to encourage the children to revisit the theme in their own time. The material is easy to use and is laid out in a good, user-friendly format. Instructions and material lists are clear and comprehensive, but you will need to plan ahead in order to source some of the craft materials.

The material is good value for money when you consider how much children and adults will enjoy using it, and how the CD can be used again in other worship settings.
